They met in Minnesota as she shot the 1996 comedy Feeling Minnesota, and he filmed Beautiful Girls. They went on to make the gross-out comedy There`s Something About Mary. Of Dillon, Diaz told Britain`s Guardian newspaper in 1997, "I love him incredibly." They split in 1998.
