Some partnerships stand the passage of time. Even when the individuals find new partners, the public consciousness always associates them with their first big love. And so it is with Sonny Bono and Cher. They met in a Los Angeles coffee shop in 1962 when Cher was just sixteen. They became friends, then lovers, then man and wife. Together they formed the pop duo Sonny and Cher, with hit tracks such as ‘I got you babe.’ In 1969, their daughter Chastity was born. They went on to have a hit variety show, "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" from 1971-74, but divorced followed in 1975.
