Matthew Lawrence and Cheryl Burke were first introduced in September of 2006 when Cheryl was competing on Dancing with the Stars with Matthew`s brother, Joey Lawrence. The two reconnected at the Staples Center in Los Angeles which was the first stop on the 38-city nationwide Dancing with the Stars tour. Matt and Cheryl began talking on the phone and it eventually developed into a relationship. Matt became a frequent visitor on the DWTS tour, and their relationship continued to thrive after the tour ended. The two were spotted together in L.A, and then made their first public appearance at the Wild Hogs Premiere. This summer, Matt has been seen visiting Cheryl and his brother on the second Dancing with the Stars Tour. Cheryl and Matt were most recently spotted at a hotel in Orlando, eating dinner with friends in Matt`s hometown in Pennsylvania, and having lunch with Matt`s mother, brother Joey and his wife Chandi. It is rumored that Matt and Cheryl have plans to buy a house together once the tour ends and Cheryl returns to California.
Two-time Dancing with the Stars champ Cheryl Burke and her boyfriend of a year, actor Matthew Lawrence, have broken up, PEOPLE has confirmed.
"I can confirm that Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence quietly ended their relationship a few weeks ago," her rep says.
The couple started dating early last year, though they initially met in 2006 through Joey Lawrence, brother of Matthew and a contestant on the third season of DWTS.
Back in happier days, Burke, 23, did a Celebrity Video Diary for PEOPLE, focusing on how she and Lawrence, 27, maintained their relationship.
