Janis received a dozen roses from the Monkees as a group as a "good luck" present before she appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show." She once said that Peter sent her a dozen red roses on her birthday, and perhaps attended her birthday party also, in 1967. Photos have also surfaced of the two together at the Monterey Pop Festival. She is reported to have had at least one sexual encounter with Peter, as well as his close friend and member of Buffalo Springfield, Stephen Stills.
Tork has been heard to say the report was true.
