Jennifer and Paul first met on the set of A Beautiful Mind, but both were in other relationships (Jennifer with Josh Charles, Paul with Laura Fraser).
Jennifer told Glamour Magazine "When we met back then, we liked each other, but we didn’t do anything about it. We were both in relationships. But then when I saw Paul again and we were both single, we got together really quickly."
The couple reconnected during awards season in early 2002, when Jennifer won her Oscar. They became engaged very quickly and were married New Year`s Day 2003.
People Magazine: "Connelly, 32, and Bettany, 31, traded vows at a rented Scottish manor on New Year`s Day. Dressed in matching black—she in a strappy gown, he in a pin-striped suit—the pair appeared before 14 friends and family members in the candlelit music room of the 1,000-acre Gilmerton House estate near Edinburgh at 5:30 in the evening. A local minister conducted the ceremony, during which Kai, Connelly`s 5-year-old son with New York City photographer David Dugan, behaved like "an absolute delight," says host Sir David Kinloch, 51, whose family has owned the property since 1655."
At the time of the wedding Jennifer was newly pregnant with son Stellan, who was born August 5, 2003. Jennifer and Paul currently split their time between their main residence in Manhattan and a country home in Stowe, Vermont.
