Heartbroken Aussie model Jessie Leonard has broken her silence on how supermodel Kate Moss stole her boyfriend.

She said she discovered her boyfriend Jamie Burke was cheating on her with supermodel Kate Moss while watching a report on the late night news.

The 23-year-old Sydney girl who had just spent Christmas with her boyfriend of 14 months, had no idea he was on a new year`s skiing holiday with the cocaine-addicted Moss in Colorado.

All she knew was she was "desperately in love" and planned on marrying the 20-year-old British bartender.

"I was with my girlfriend. We both looked at each other and said, `No, it couldn`t be.` There was this horrible sick feeling in my stomach," she told British newspaper The Mail on Sunday.

"I`m shocked, my friends are shocked - I think he`s shocked himself too. But it`s better to have found out what he`s capable of now rather than in two years` time," Leonard, who is managed by Priscilla`s model management in Potts Point, said.

Moss, who is delaying her return to Britain to face drug charges, was introduced to Burke by Richard Branson`s son Sam shortly before Christmas.

She is said to have since dumped Burke although he told a heartbroken Leonard he is still in contact with his fling. Moss has apparently told friends that Burke was an amazing lover but that nothing else "clicked".

When confronted by Leonard, Burke admitted he had been "flattered" by Moss`s attention.

"I know it would be hard to resist Kate Moss if you were a man. But the hard thing is that we were very much in love when it all happened. If our relationship had been coming to an end or if we`d had a fight, it would have been different," Leonard said.

Leonard, who was brought up by her mother Louise in Byron Bay after her pilot father died when she was two, has been living in New York with Burke, modelling and bartending since they met in 2004.

"We were desperate about each other. We never wanted to leave each other`s side."

She did not suspect there was anything wrong while Burke was cheating.

"We spoke a few times on the phone and he said, `Miss you. Love you. We`re having a great time. I wish you were here.` He didn`t tell me Kate was there."

"I have no idea if they`re together - he says they`re not. But I don`t want to think about them," Leonard said.

"He says he loves me and that he`s confused, but there`s no way I can love him the way I used to so there`s no point going back."
