Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley married on May 26, 1994, in the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is outside of the U.S. Way before Lisa Marie and Michael married, Elvis used to take Lisa to his see the Jackson 5 in Las Vegas when Michael had a concert with his brothers. That was the first time that they met each other. Many years later, they were reconnected through a mutual friend. On January 18, 1996, Lisa Marie filed for divorced, it was finalized on August 20, 1996. But, they still remained as friends. Lisa Marie Presley said in her own words that it was "a married couple`s life...that was sexually active."
In April 2005, during Michael`s trial for child molestation, Lisa said that she "saw things I couldn`t do anything about" but the media took her out of context. She later released a statement saying that she never saw Michael engage in inappropriate behavior with children.
In August 2008 Lisa told Marie Claire magazine that marrying Michael was "the biggest mistake I`ve ever made."
Lisa wrote on her MySpace blog on June 26, 2009 that she was "gutted", and that she felt she had "failed" to help save him from "the inevitable". She had also made a comment stating that she has "made a loss on so many levels."
