After nearly 10 years we’re still not sure that Minnie has managed to live down this relationship. She met Damon on the set of Good Will Hunting and was ensconced in what she believed was a happy relationship. That was until Damon went on the Oprah Winfrey Show and announced live on TV that he had dumped Minnie – without telling her. Well, Minnie was a laughing stock. The film roles started to dry up, and she made a u-turn into singing. The only problem was that her songs were cryptic confessionals best suited to a small bar - not the work we’d expect from an A-list star. OK, so getting publicly dumped doesn’t mean you should be shunned by Hollywood. But why did he do it so cruelly? The answer is he didn’t. The pair had actually split three weeks before the show, and Minnie recently confirmed that she did in fact know about then parting before the rest of the world knew. Playing the ‘wronged woman’ was arguably Minnie’s greatest acting success. Because the myth still continues….
