The son of Italian actor Antonio Sabāto Sr., and his Czech-born wife Yvonne Kabouchy, the family moved to the United States when he was 12. He attended St. Bernard High School (Los Angeles, California) before transferring to Beverly Hills High School in Beverly Hills, California. Sabāto became a naturalized citizen of the United States in November of 1996.
Sabāto first gained attention as a Calvin Klein underwear model, and appeared in Janet Jackson`s Love Will Never Do (Without You) music video along with actor Djimon Hounsou, who is also a former CK underwear model, in 1990. Moving into acting, from 1992 through 1995 he appeared on the soap opera General Hospital, the SF series Earth 2, and on the prime-time soap opera Melrose Place.
He played a part in the 1998 film The Big Hit, and in 2003 shot Testosterone. In June 2005, Sabāto Jr. joined the cast of the soap The Bold and the Beautiful as Dante Damiano. In October 2006, Sabāto was let go from the show after one year. Sabato appeared on But Can They Sing?, a celebrity reality singing competition on VH1, and in the 2008 NBC competition Celebrity Circus, winning it on July 16, 2008. He said on air, "My grandfather from my mother`s side and my mother were both in the circus". It was announced in June 2008[citation needed] that Sabāto Jr. would reprise his role of Jagger Cates on the second season of General Hospital: Night Shift; and in the spring of 2009, he will star in his own dating reality show for VH1.
Sabāto was married to Alicia Tully Jensen from 1992 to 1993. He also dated Nicolette Scorsese in the 1980s. He has two children, a son, Jack Antonio (born August 6, 1994) with actress Virginia Madsen, and a daughter, Mina Bree (born August 29, 2002) with his then girlfriend Kristin Rossetti.
