The child of a nurse and a bank clerk, Benoît Magimel grews in Paris. Only twelve, he answered a casting call and nailed down the leading role of Momo in the Étienne Chatiliez` comedy "Life is a Long quiet River." Magimel quit school at sixteen to devote himself to his acting career. After many supporting appearances in televions and film, he starred with Virginie Ledoyen in "A Single Girl." Magimel has worked with some of the world`s greatest directors. He starred in André Techiné`s "Les Voleurs." He received an award for his performance in Michael Haneke`s chilling drama "The Piano Teacher" at Cannes. He worked with French filmmaker Claude Chabrol in the "La Fleur du Mal" and "La Demoiselle d`honneur."
Magimel will be seen in numerous films including the action picture "Crimson Rivers 2: Angels of the Apocalypse" with Jean Reno, "Trouble," "Les Chevaliers du ciel," and Barbet Schroeder`s recently announced new film "The Death Instinct."
