Carson Palmer Biography

Carson Palmer (born December 27, 1979 in Fresno, California) is an American football quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Bengals first overall in the 2003 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Southern California. Palmer won the Heisman Trophy while at USC in 2002 and has been selected to two Pro Bowls with the Bengals.

Palmer married Shaelyn Fernandes, a former USC soccer player whom he met during freshman orientation, on July 5, 2003. In the off-season, they reside in Laguna Beach, California. His brother, Jordan Palmer, was his best man at his wedding. He is the brother of fellow Bengal quarterback Jordan Palmer. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, no brothers have played quarterback for the same team during the Super Bowl era. (Koy Detmer was on injured reserve for Philadelphia while his brother, Ty Detmer, played for the Eagles in 1997.) In 2008, Nike released 3 Air Max 90s, one of which was designed in the Nike ID studios by Palmer. The shoe`s colorway bears a strong resemblance to the famous Air Max 90 Infrareds. Palmer is a contributor to Delta Air Lines` "Under the Wing" blog. Delta maintains a hub at Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Quotes
  • We just wanted to come out and be crisp, ... We wanted to get our work in, get in and get out and keep everybody healthy.

  • We realize our offense got a lot of guys back, and we`ve done a lot of things to improve our defense, ... We were 8-8 last year. We need to step up from there. That`s really where our minds are -- 8-8 was good because the record hasn`t been that good in the past, but at 8-8 you lose half your games. That`s nothing to write home about, nothing to be proud of. We`re definitely expecting to take drastic steps from last year into this year.

  • We weren`t sharp, ... There`s no way around that.

  • That`s what the preseason`s for, to get all the mistakes and the funk out.

  • It took me longer than what I wanted, ... but I started to feel better about my abilities. I started to feel confident about myself as the year went on. Things really start to slow down. You start to process information faster at the line of scrimmage. You can do it in college, but college is a whole different world from the pros.

  • It`s a huge win for us. Getting off to a fast start is what we wanted to do.

  • We`re going to lose a lot if we don`t have him,

  • We`re definitely not there yet. We`re pretty good. Offensively, we do some good things, but we`re still a ways away from where we need to be.
    (thinkexist.com)
  • Last week, we were three (botched) plays away from 100 more yards on offense. A lot gets blown out of proportion. A couple of things need to be fixed. If they get fixed, we`re right back on track.
