 You have to give our guys credit coming back like that. We need a stretch like this to get us back in the running. Throwing from the third-base side, I wasn`t able to consistently get balls inside (to lefties), especially with how far I throw across my body. The difference isn`t just in the fact the results are different, but I just feel like I have more command to the outer half against right-handers and to the inside against lefties. It`s not like I`m going to pitch like (I did today) every single time. But it gives me a better chance. It was disconcerting, since I`m a ground-ball pitcher. At least they were solos. You never like to end a day like that, ... But this is my 31st start and I finally got double-digit wins, so I will take it. I love this time of year because every game counts. I talked to her and asked if this was an appropriate relationship to have with someone you cover. To me, it`s a conflict of interest. I don`t think you can have a relationship with someone you`re paid to report on. She said she had no problem with it. This is the time of year that I really enjoy. This isn`t July, so do the math. If San Diego plays .500 ball, we can only lose five more games the rest of the year. It`s going to be kind of tough. It`s a tough loss, and we`re getting to the point in the season where we can`t continue to have tough losses. It`s a team game. It wasn`t like Valentin tried to let the ball go through his legs to see how far it would get by him. That 0-2 changeup was my mistake. I take responsibility for letting the guy score on an 0-2 pitch. Early on in the game, we tried to pitch a lot of left-handers inside for strikes, which allows you to pitch them away later in the game. I`m probably pitching more instead of being one-dimensional -- you know, sinker, sinker, sinker. It`s fun to be able to go out there and feel like you have a better chance of having success. | ||
