Dorothy was a young lady who could play any role whether it be the girl next door or the sassy, sexy, man chaser, either one, Dorothy was a natural with everything she did. She had a strong screen and stage presence. She was extremely likable and was a favorite of all who seen her. Dorothy was in quite a few 20 min Vitaphone shorts and in quite a few full featured films with bigger stars such as Dick Powell and Irene Dunne. Most of her films are shown frequently on Turner Classic Movies. Dorothy Dare singing "Red Headed and Blue" in "Private Lessons" steals the movie. Feisty and delight...she puts the song over like a red head would. Some have said Dorothy didn`t get a chance in Hollywood. Some even said the shorts Dorothy appeared in were better then her appearances in Hollywood films. But either way, Dorothy always left a memorable presence with watchers.
