Aimée Ann Duffy, better known by her stage name Duffy, is a Grammy Award-winning Welsh singer-songwriter, best known for the success of her debut album, Rockferry. The album spawned the worldwide hits "Mercy" and "Warwick Avenue". The success of "Mercy" meant that Duffy was the first Welsh female for 25 years to achieve number-one on the UK Singles Chart. The album was also very successful, becoming the United Kingdom`s biggest selling of 2008, with an annual certification of 5× Platinum. It was revealed by The Official Charts Company that Rockferry had sold 1.685m copies in 2008 in the United Kingom alone. In 2008, she was acknowledged for her work, winning the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. Rockferry and Duffy also won three BRIT awards in 2009.
