Missouri born and raised Hutton worked for a number of casting and productions companies before working exclusively as action director Renny Harlin`s executive assistant in 1988. In 1990, she met Brandon Lee at the office where she worked, and they began dating. In 1991, she became story editor for Stillwater Productions, and was working in casting when her fiance died in 1993. In 1992, she and Brandon became engaged. After his death in March 1993, Eliza, along with Brandon`s mother Linda were instrumental in getting The Crow completed. Eliza also petitioned to have film set gun safety regulations tightened, and was rather vigilant in ensuring the producers donated a proportion of the film`s marketing sales to a gun safety program that was set up in Brandon`s name for actors to be educate about gun arms safety and regulations on film sets.
The Crow is dedicated to her and Brandon. She is also mentioned on his gravestone which says, "ever joined in true love`s beauty."
In 1994, Eliza moved to NYC, but later returned to L.A in 1998 and continued to work in casting. She has keep a very low profile since Brandon`s death, and is quite protective of her privacy.
Eliza has been involved in the area of child welfare for the last 10 years. She also has done work and is involved with research within in the field of abused and neglected children in the Los Angeles area. She has worked with a range of charities to help children who are at risk and those who are not in permanent foster homes to be placed in safe care.
Eliza resides in Los Angeles, and has been married since 2004.
