Frankie Valli (born May 3, 1934 as Francis Stephen Castelluccio) is an American musician, most famous as frontman of The 4 Seasons.
Valli, along with Tommy DeVito, Nick Massi, and Bob Gaudio, the original members of The 4 Seasons, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999. Valli scored 29 Top 40 Hits with The 4 Seasons, 1 Top 40 Hit under The 4 Seasons alias of `The Wonder Who?` and 9 Top 40 Hits as a solo artist. As a member of The 4 Seasons, Valli scored Number One Hits with "Sherry", "Big Girls Don`t Cry", "Walk Like a Man", "Rag Doll", and "December 1963 (Oh, What a Night)". As a solo artist, Valli scored Number One Hits with "My Eyes Adored You" and "Grease". His best known solo recording, though, is "Can`t Take My Eyes Off You", which reached Number 2 in 1967. "You`re Ready Now", a Valli solo recording from 1966, became a surprise hit in England as part of the Northern soul scene and hit Number 11 on the British pop charts in December 1970. It was very important to establish a sound, so that people heard a record on the radio and knew immediately that it was you."Trivia When The Four Seasons finally made it, their age was something of an embarrassment. They were a good ten years older than The Beach Boys. The record companies thought no teenagers would listen to a band in their thirties. Valli was 28 when "Sherry" became a hit, and the record company thought it would be better if he were considered 25, so his age was changed. But his real age and birth date (1934) were on the back of the Four Lovers album. Then, when the Four Seasons were arrested in Columbus, Ohio for not paying for the hotel rooms the prior year, Valli`s mug shot became public, and based on his driver`s license and police record, it became obvious that he was born in 1934. The Broadway musical, "Jersey Boys", about the beginnings of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons were awarded 4 Tony Awards in 2006 including Best Original Musical, Best Actor (John Lloyd Young), Best Actor in a Featured Role (Christian Hoff), and Best Lighting Design in a Musical. Elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a member of The Four Seasons) in 1990. Known for his High-pitched, falsetto singing style. Born in Newark, New Jersey, USA Married 3 times. | ||
