Scottish actress. She was the daughter of British actress Elaine Inescourt.
Her first Broadway performance was in 1922 and over the course of the next thirteen years, she acted in sixteen productions, and established herself as a notable dramatic actress.
She moved to Hollywood and made her film debut in The Dark Angel (1935). Her films include Mary of Scotland (1936), Pride and Prejudice (1940), The Letter (1940), The Trial of Mary Dugan (1941), You`ll Never Get Rich (1941), The Courtship of Andy Hardy (1946) and A Place in the Sun (1951).
Frieda Inescort also appeared as the conniving Caroline Bingley with Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson in Pride and Prejudice (1940).
Inescort died in Woodland Hills, California from multiple sclerosis, aged 74, a disease she had been diagnosed with in 1932.

Her husband committed suicide with pills. He told her after he took them, but it was too late to save him.
