A native of Washington D.C., J. Holiday burst on the scene as a solo-artist in 2006 but hit it big with his hit single "Bed" in early 2007. The single reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The buzz-heavy Music Line Group/Capitol Records release spotlights a burgeoning talent whose diverse influences range from the heartfelt soul of Marvin Gaye to the provocative street poetry of rap icon Tupac Shakur. “My sound is old school soul with a little mix of hip-hop,” explains Holiday . “If I had to give it a name I would call it ‘street soul.’ Nowadays the ‘hood has little to listen to within R&B. I want my music to be the soundtrack to their lives and beyond.” His debut album Back of My Lac` has gone Gold in the U.S. with sales of over 500,000 copies. With two hit singles "Bed" and "Suffocate" J. Holiday is definitely making a good first impression in the industry.
