James Kiberd is a unique hybrid. The immensely popular actor is also a committed artist, and a dedicated humanitarian. How Kiberd became the only daytime Star to be cited as one of the top 15 Fan Favorites of the 90s is still a mystery. Was it that he was one of Oprah`s favorite guests at the time? In my role as National Ambassador for UNICEF I`ve found that a people, a culture is as good as the stories it tells about itself. Our stories tell us who we think we were, are, and will become. It`s through our stories that we imbue the ethics, morals and values that are key to the survival of a culture and its people. A child asking to be told a story again is reaching for a tool that will serve a lifetime. When a people`s story telling falters they have lost a clear sense of who they are and their world is in decline.
