 I think when he came down I was still sliding and I caught his shin guard a little bit. It`s not that big of a deal. I don`t know if too many guys really understand it. The two guys ahead of him obviously managed for a long time, so it`s a nice milestone. Hopefully he can manage five or six more years and get to be second. I don`t think anybody`s going to catch Connie Mack. I could hear Larry out there, and he was saying, `Oh, God!` and he didn`t want to call it. You really couldn`t blame him. It`s getting a little too much attention right now, but that`s how it is when you go to the doctor. If I can`t feel my forearm for the rest of my life, I`ll be OK. There are worse things than that. Right now they are overloaded in terms of manpower. I`m going to be stubborn and stay on the ball. I was more of a pull hitter (last year). It`s not the way I had approached things in the first 10 years, so I don`t know why in my 11th and 12th years I started changing. ... Not this spring. It shows you how well he`s taken care of himself. I feel like I`ll be 40 tomorrow, too. I`m just going to do what I used to do, whatever was natural. I know what I`m capable of, and that`s what I`m looking for. It`s been bothering me since before I got down here. It`s actually gotten better than it was, but it hasn`t gone away. I was scared at first. I thought, `Oh, it`ll go away,` and for two months it wouldn`t. Shaking hands, stupid stuff like that, I was pretty sore. | ||
