Manganiello was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.[1] He graduated from the suburban Mt. Lebanon High School in 1995, where he was a letterman in football, basketball, and volleyball. He also appeared in a school production of Oklahoma!. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.
Manganiello has appeared in Spider-Man, where he portrayed Flash Thompson, and Spider-Man 3, in which he reprised his role from the first film, though in a non-speaking capacity. He has also appeared in numerous television shows, including Jake in Progress, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Scrubs, American Heiress, a recurring role on How I Met Your Mother as well as ER as a love interest for nurse Sam Taggart. He also appeared in the fifth season of One Tree Hill as Owen the Bartender, a love interest for Brooke Davis and returns for season six. He starred in WWE Studios, Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia alongside WWE superstar Mr. Kennedy. He has apparently tried out for the Smallville role of "Mason" of the upcoming 9th season - as he has revealed on his Twitter feed. He has since said he didnt get the part.The role of Mason was later reveiled to be General Zod,English actor Callum Blue got the part.
