Kim Victoria Fields (born May 12, 1969 in New York, New York) is an American actress.
Fields was discovered by an acting agent for the sitcom The Facts of Life after appearing in a commercial for Mrs. Butterworth`s pancake syrup. From 1979 to 1988, she played Tootie Ramsey on the program. This was Field`s most notable role. Even twenty-five years later, Tootie is known to many television viewers for her catchphrase, "We are in trou-ble!" She was also known for the braces she wore on the series for five seasons. Another trait that is associated with the character of Tootie is that she spent the majority of season 1 on rollerskates. Some sources at the time noted that this was requested in order to increase her height for the cameras.
Before appearing on Facts of Life, Fields starred on a short-lived sitcom called Baby, I`m Back, and later appeared on Good Times as a friend of Penny Woods. Her real life mother, Chip Fields, starred on Good Times as the mother of Janet Jackson`s character, Penny, but the two Fields women never starred in the same episodes. Kim`s episodes on Good Times were "The Snow Storm" and "The Physical". Her real life mother, however, would eventually play her on-screen mother in both of Field`s later series. Chip Fields played Diane Ramsey, Tootie`s mother, on Facts of Life as well as playing Regine`s mother on Living Single.
After taking time away from acting to attend Pepperdine University, she had a starring role in the hit FOX sitcom Living Single from 1993 to 1998 as Regine Hunter. Fields also stood behind the camera, as she directed the "All That" spinoff and a number of "Kenan & Kel" episodes and appeared in two episodes of the series. Fields guest-starred on television series such as One on One and appeared as herself on HBO`s The Comeback.
