While Lacey Mosley was a young child her house to her was known as a warzone and she went through alot of depression. At the age of 10 seh started dabbing with drugs and was an atheist. At thirteen she fell into the stuff even worse. `I was trying to figure out who i was and anything to seperate me from my family , or to seperate me from my situation at home was good to me`. Mosley said. When Mosley was fourteen years old she recieved a bass guitar for Christmas and began playing Nirvana and Green Day songs with her brother who played to guitar. At 16 Lacey was kicked out of her home after a fight she had with her mother that head the police involve. She then moved to Gulfport to live with her grandparents. She attended High Schol and played in a band in need of a bass player so she could write her own songs. During the same year she went through alot of depression and had suicidal tendencies. ` I lost my boyfriend, I lost my brothers and sisters that i watched everyday, and i lost my drugs that i did, i really felt like that was the end. So i decided to kill myself the next day.` she said. After her grandmother forced her to go to church Lacey Mosley experienced something supernatural that brought her to God. ` My life totally changed after that`. Her old band would moslty sing negative meaning songs that filled her emptinss inside so she wuit and played on her own. After visiting her mother back in Texas, Lacey formed a new band and ended up staying in the town rather than returning to Mississippi. Where they eventualy disbanded and Mosley moved to Temple,Texas where she met drummer James Culpepper. They began writing and in search for a bass player. Later on after the brake up of the band Sporos Sameer Bhattachrya and Jared Hartmann joined Lacey and James and formed the band Listen. They went through 2 bass players and then found Pat Seals and formed Passerby. Later in June of 2004 the band changed their name to Flyleaf
