Daughter of a pajama factory owner and a homemaker, she performed on Broadway in The Music Man, which led to her part on "Gimme a Break!" (1981). After the show`s finale, Lara majored in Politics and French at New York University, graduating in 1991. She then enrolled in law school at Fordham University, and worked as a litigator at a Manhattan law firm after graduation. In 1999, she moved back to Los Angeles, where she currently provides the voice for Clifford the puppy on "Clifford`s Puppy Days" (2003), PBS` prequel series to "Clifford the Big Red Dog" (2000)_. She also plays the title role on "The Life and Times of Juniper Lee" (2005), premiering June, 2005 on The Cartoon Network.
