Leigh Nash was born and raised in New Braunfels, Texas. Soon Nash met Matt Slocum, a guitarist and a songwriter at a church retreat in the early 1990`s. Together they formed Sixpence None The Richer and record four full-length albums with the band. Their first album was The Fatherless and the Widow, released when she was just 16. The album gained critical acclaim. Slocum and Nash looked for new band members and soon found Tess Wiley, Dale Baker and JJ Plascencio. This Beautiful Mess was the band`s first recorded single which won Best Album at Dove Award. Wiley left the band after their US Tour. The band signed to the Squint Records Label afterwards. In 1997, their new self-titled album was released. A year later, their song Kiss Me which went to be the band`s most recognizable song and hit single of the album played in the teen movie She`s All That and the popular teen soap Dawson`s Creek. In 1999, the band received multiple Dove Awards, one of these was Artist of the Year and also nominated for a Grammy Award. After problems with their record labels and losing both JJ Plascencio and Dale Baker, Sixpence came back with their album Divine Discontent in 2001. Breath Your Name and Don`t Dream It`s Over were two singles from the album that went onto the charts. However, on 26 of February 2004, Sixpence announced their break-up when Slocum sent a letter to CCM Magazine. Before the band split, Nash had often considered working solo, if and when she would be band-less. Though the end of Sixpence left her a little confused, Nash realized it was time to move on. In the late 1990s, Nash married PFR drummer Mark Nash. The couple met while both of their bands were performing at Cornerstone Festival at Illinois. She and her husband moved from Nashville to Los Angeles and gave birth to a son soon after. Nash `s original musical influences came from classic country heroines Loreta Lyn, Patsy Cline and Tanya Tucker - whose songs she used to learn on guitar long before her Sixpence days. In the fall of 2005, Nash began to work on her first solo album titled Blue on Blue under the production of Pierre Marchand which was released on 15 of August 2006 under her personal label, One Son Records.
