Mathilda May (born February 8, 1965, Paris) is a French film actress. Born as Karin Mathilda Haim, her father is playwright Victor Haim. Her mother is Swedish ballet teacher and choreographer Margareta Haim. Mathilda won the "Premier Prix du Conservatoire de Danse de Paris" (First Prize at the Paris Dance Conservatory) at age 16. In 1989 she won the Prix Romy Schneider.
Her work is primarily in French for the European market. Outside of Europe, she has appeared in the films Lifeforce (1985), Naked Tango (1991), Becoming Colette (1991) and The Tit and the Moon (1994). In the USA she is probably best known for her role in Lifeforce in which she is fully nude for most of her screen time. She also appeared in the 1996 space adventure game Privateer 2 - The Darkening, which also featured Clive Owen, Christopher Walken, and Jürgen Prochnow.
Mathilda May has been divorced three times and has two children by Gérard Darmon, her second husband.
