Maureen Teefy Biography
Maureen Jane Teefy was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. One of eight sisters, Teefy won admittance to the Children`s Theater School of Minneapolis summer program at age 15 where she received actor`s training and later taught dramatics in the local Howe Elementary School.

She attended Boston Conservatory and Juilliard school of drama.

With a dozen or more credits to her film resume, such as the 1980 hit Fame, she is best remembered for her role as Sharon Cooper in the musical Grease 2.

As of 2003, Maureen was living a quiet life with her husband Alexander Cassini and her 17 year-old daughter, Isabella in Venice, California.

Although Grease 2 was considered a bomb, I think it was a great movie. It was fun, it was funny, it was very entertaining, and it was blessed with a large number of amazingly talented singers and dancers. The songs were great (Cool Rider was a rocky surprise!), the story was good for 1961, it was definitely a good time. Although some see new actress Michelle Pfieffer as a leading lady, I don`t see it. The instant Sharon stepped in front of the camera, I was breathless. She was the only girl in the movie I could see. Maureen`s acting was wonderful and funny, her voice was fantastic, and her beauty completely dazzling! I`ve seen the movie a dozen times, but I don`t know if I would have without Sharon. She was the star!

  • All the songs were actually done by the stars in the movie Grease 2. At the recording studio after the movie, however, where the soundtrack was being recorded, Maureen could not attend. The soundtrack, sadly, moved around her and her big hit, the fallout shelter song Let`s Do It For Our Country featured the male lead and did not have her vocals in it. (They should have waited for her!)
  • Maureen Teefy replaced actress Demi Moore in the role of Lucy Lane in Supergirl (1984). Demi somehow was allowed to back out so she could do another film, Blame It On Rio.

  • Many other actresses tried to win the part of Stephanie Zinone, including rock star Pat Benetar. Ironically, although the musical was set in 1961, the music wasn`t that limited. Michelle had the hottest rock number of the whole movie, describing her `dream guy` as a COOL RIDER in a rock track that very much sounded like something that Pat Benetar would do.
  • Grease 2 was the first major acting role of film-unknown Michelle Pfieffer and was considered a great role for her. On the other hand, young up-and-coming star Maxwell Caulfield, who was a hopeful and considered to be the next Richard Gere, was badly damaged by the film, which was overall considered a flop. His career was badly stained, taking nearly a decade to recover from it.
