A veteran stage, film and television actor, Michael Tucker is perhaps best known for his role as Stuart Markowitz in the hit series, “L.A. Law”. His 8-year stint on the popular NBC-TV drama brought him three Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations. He reprised his role on LA Law -- The Movie, seen on NBC.

In the theater, Michael most recently starred in “Based on a Totally True Story” at Manhattan Theatre Club. His theater credits range from Regional to Broadway. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon’s famed drama department, he joined the company of the Long Wharf Theater in New Haven for a season, then spent three seasons at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater and two seasons at Arena Stage in Washington D.C. He made his Broadway debut with in “Moonchildren” and then went on to build an extensive list of stage credits. among them: “Modigliani”, “The Rivals”, “Mother Courage”, “Oh What a Lovely War”, “Trelawney of the Wells” with Meryl Streep and John Lithgow, Herb Gardner’s “The Goodbye People” and “I’m Not Rappaport” as well as principal roles in “The Merry Wives of Windsor”, “Measure for Measure” and “The Comedy of Errors” for Joe Papp in Central Park. He helped to re-open the Geary Theater in San Francisco where he starred in a production of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”. He has appeared at The Manhattan Theater Club, The Roundabout Theater, Playwrights Horizons, The Second Stage, The Phoenix Theater, Lincoln Center, Shakespeare in the Park, as well as on and off-Broadway.

Michael’s film credits include Woody Allen’s “Radio Days” and “The Purple Rose of Cairo”, Barry Levinson’s “Diner and “Tin Men”, Paul Mazursky’s “An Unmarried Woman”, Lina Wertmuller’s “A Night Full of Rain”, “The Eyes of Laura Mars”, “Network”, “Checking Out”, “For Love or Money” with Michael J. Fox, “Mighty Ducks II”, a Disney hit, and “Till There Was You” with Jean Tripplehorn.

TV credits include, “Maximum Liability”, the Emmy award winning TV mini-series “Concealed Enemies”, the three hour Emmy award winning TV movie “Day One”, “Too Young to Die” with Juliette Lewis and Brad Pitt, the NBC movie “Growing up Brady”, and many others. He appeared as Harry Rosenthal opposite Tracey Ullman both on the original TV Movie, “Tracy Takes on New York” and on her highly acclaimed HBO series, “Tracey Takes On”. Michael guest-starred on “The Practice” and had recurring roles on “Family Law” and “Law and Order”.

With Jill, “The Tuckerberrys” have also appeared together on stage in A.R. Gurney’s “Love Letters”, on TV in “Hill Street Blues” and such TV movies as “A Family Again”, “Gone in a Heartbeat”, “Assault and Matrimony”, “A Town Torn Apart” and “Archie’s Wife”, which also featured their daughter Alison.

Jill and Michael have recently produced a documentary film, “Emile Norman ? By his Own Design”, which is appearing a various festivals around the country. It has shown on KQED in San Francisco and will have its national debut on PBS this coming year.

Jill and Michael have recently put together a two-person show that they are performing around the country. Directed by Richard Jay Alexander, the show tells the story of their 35-year relationship with the help of a dozen songs, video clips from TV and films and even a cooking segment where Michael passes out tasty morsels to the audience.

Michael received the “Good Guys Award” from the National Women’s Political Caucus for his work on women’s health issues.
