Nia Peeples (born December 10 1961 in Hollywood, California) is an American R&B and dance music singer and actress. She was raised in West Covina, California. She is best known for her television work prior to her musical career. She portrayed Nicole Chapman on the hit TV series Fame, hosted the short-lived American version of Top of the Pops as well as her own video music program called Party Machine, and portrayed Texas Ranger Sydney Cooke in the CBS hit series Walker, Texas Ranger from 1999-2001. In 1988 she hit #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart with "Trouble," which climbed to #35 on the Hot 100. Her most successful single is "Street Of Dreams," which hit #12 on the Hot 100 in 1991. Nia Peeples joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in 2007.
Peeples has been married three times. 1984 - 1986 she was married to actor Guy Ecker, from 1988 - 1993 to R&B singer Howard Hewett and her third husband was stuntman Lauro Chartrand from 1997 - 2004. She has son Christopher (b. 1990) from her second and daughter Sienna Noel (b. 1998) from her third marriage.
