Oleg Menshikov was born November, 8, 1960 in the Moscow area, in city of Serpukhov. After leaving school in 1977 he has arrived in Theatrical school of a name of M.S.Shchepkina. After the ending of school Menshikov played Small theatre of USSR (1981-1982), at the Central academic theatre of the Soviet Army (1982-1985), at theatre of a name of M.N.Ermolova. His most appreciable theatrical works at this time became Ganechka in "Idiot" F.M.Dostoevsky, Seresha in " Sports stages of 1981 " to E.Radzinskogo in Valery Fokina`s statement, Kaligula in A.Kamju`s same play at Peter Fomenko at Theatre of name Mossoviet. Among other his most famous works on stage was the play "When she danced", performed in London, together wih Vanessa Redgrave. Oleg was the first and the only Russian actor who interpreted a part in West End in London. For this part he received Lawrence Olivier Prize from the British Academy of Dramatic Arts. At cinema the actor debuted on the fourth rate, a role of scout Shurka Dominiani in a television movie " I Wait and I hope " (1980). But it was the role of Kostik Romin in the Pokrovskie Vorota that made him famous and beloved by the Russian audience. All the films that followed were a constant success receiving all types of nominations and awards. Now Oleg is recognized as the best Russian actor of his generation.
