Joshua was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, but spent the first eight years of his life in California before returning to Canada. At the age of 11, Josh decided he wanted to pursue acting. Knowing how cruel an acting career could be, his mother, a casting director, took him to his first audition in hopes of discouraging him. Instead, he landed a commercial for Keebler`s potato chips.Since then, Josh has had a full career ranging from theater to television.

Attended the 2006 Dubai International Film Festival in the United Arab Emirates. Briefly attended Ideal Mini School in Vancouver. Dad`s name is John. First on-screen appearance was, when he was several months old, in The Changeling (1980), which starred George C. Scott. His grandparents were opera singers in Dublin, Ireland. Mother, Fiona Jackson, is a casting director, author and a life coach. Screen tested for the title role in Batman Begins (2005), but lost out to Christian Bale. Unlike most Canadian born actors, he has never been introduced at the Toronto Film Festival. Was initially scheduled for a cameo in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, but Kevin Smith decided to go for James Van Der Beek, the lead star in the WB`s Dawson`s Creek instead. Allergic to every nut but peanuts. At age 9, he was a stand in for The Fly II (1989) and an extra on "MacGyver" (1985) for several episodes. Enjoys playing the harmonica in his free time. Has a dog named Shumba who he was very close to. Sadly, Shumba died in July 2006. Has dual U.S./Canadian citizenship. Is asthmatic Saved a girls life who was drowning in Wilmington. The cast and crew of Dawson`s Creek gave him a life preserver to remember it. Took time after High School to travel through Europe Was roommates with James Van Der Beek during the first season of "Dawson`s Creek" (1998). Younger sister is Aisleagh Jackson.
