Lisa Stansfield Biography

From an early age she was dreaming about being a famous singer and she was influenced by Diana Ross, Supremes and Barry White`s records. She began her career in the showbiz when she was just a teenager but as a singer in the beginning she didn`t have too much success.

She co-hosted a Children`s TV pop show at this time, Razzmatazz with Alistair Pirrie. She realized that doing television shows is not that she really wants so she started to take voice lessons.

In 1983 she founded a band with her classmate Andy Morris and Ia
n Devaney, her future huscband called Blue Zone and they signed a contract first with Rockin’ Horse Records and after with Artista. They had some success in the Night Club scenes with their single "Jackie".

After her band mates recommended her to Coldcuts she made a feature with them called "People hold on" and this song went on the top of the UK charts.

Arista Records offered her a solo contract and she made Morris and Devaney her co-writers, musicians and producers. In the same year appeared her debut album "Affection" and the first single on it "All around the world" became a worldwide number one hit.

The album went platinum, was sold in over 5 million copies and was many awarded.

In the next year she made her second album "Real Love" and singles like "Change", "All Woman", "Time To Make You Mine", and "Set Your Loving Free" became popular hits. She appeared on the big screens in the movie "Swing" and also participated with songs on the soundtracks of "Swing", "Bodyguard" and "Wedding planner".
