Robert Anthony Plant (born August 20, 1948, West Bromwich, West Midlands) is an English rock singer, most famous for his membership in the rock band Led Zeppelin, but also for his successful solo career. He is known for his powerful style, often mystical lyrics, and wide vocal range. As the lead singer of Led Zeppelin he is often defined as the quintessential rock front man, combining rare musical adeptness and knowledge with a large measure of stage bravado and an outgoing personality. As a solo artist following the Led Zeppelin era, he is often credited for his wide range of musical taste and his ability to perform an eclectic range of songs in a refined and critically acclaimed manner.

Daughter Carmen is married to Charlie Jones, Robert Plant`s bass player for solo tours. During a break from the 1975 American tour, Plant and his family were seriously injured in a jeep wreck. This not only caused the remainder of the tour to be cancelled, but it also prevented the band from filming additional footage for their concert film The Song Remains the Same (1976). Elvis Presley once teased him about not owning his own plane - Elvis asked where Led Zeppelin got the jet. "We rented it from Caesar`s Palace" said Plant. "I own mine" replied Elvis. In the early 1980s he stated that he and Jimmy Page used to listen to Huelyn Duvall`s "Three Months To Kill" to gain musical inspiration. Interestingly, legendary Nashville guitarist Hank Garland`s guitar work was featured on this recording as well as on Duvall`s "Little Boy Blue" and "Juliet" Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a member of Led Zeppelin) in 1995. Led Zeppelin were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame for their outstanding contribution to British music and integral part of British music culture. [14 November 2006] Led Zeppelin were voted the 14th Greatest Rock `n` Roll Artists of all time by Rolling Stone.
