Maria Josephine Doyle (born 25 September 1964 in Clontarf, Dublin, Ireland) is an Award-winning Irish actress and singer. In 1988, she married musician Kieran Kennedy. Maria speaks fluent Irish. Maria was a member of the Hothouse Flowers in the mid-80s. She releases her own music on Mermaid Records, a label she founded herself in 2001.Her debut solo album Charm was released in 2001. She coordinated Sirens which is a compilation album of female artists and which was released in 2003. She released an album Skullcover consisting of cover versions in 2005.

Maria`s new release (2007) is entitled Mütter. Kennedy played Natalie Murphy in The Commitments (1991) and can also be seen in Gregory`s Two Girls (1999), "Nothing Personal", "Moll Flanders" (1996), "The MatchMaker" (1997), "I Could Read the Sky" (1999), "Miss Julie" (1999), "J.J. Biker" (2001), "Mystics" (2002), "Tara Road" (2005) and "Spin The Bottle" (2003).

She has also worked in some film/television series. For example, she had a small part as Patsy, the long-suffering assistant of Eoin McLove in the Irish sitcom Father Ted, and she appeared as Marie, Stuart`s sister, in the UK version of Queer as Folk. In 2007-2008, she portrayed Catherine of Aragon in the The Tudors for which she won an IFTA Award as Best Actress in a Supporting Role Television and a Gemini award.
