Stuart Lee Murdoch (born 25 August 1968) is a Scottish musician, and the lead singer and songwriter for the indie pop band Belle & Sebastian. The majority of his childhood was spent a stone's throw from the birthplace of Robert Burns in Alloway, Ayr until he left school and attended university in Glasgow.
Bobby Kildea (born 14 March 1972) is a musician from Northern Ireland. He currently plays bass and guitar in the Scottish indie pop band Belle & Sebastian, after joining in 2001 to replace departing bassist Stuart David, and had previously been in V-Twin. He is the band's only Northern Irish member and is notable for his laidback demeanor and long hair.

Chris Geddes (born 15 October 1975) is the keyboardist for and a founding member of the Scottish indie pop band Belle & Sebastian. Born in Stroud, England, he is a communist and a vegetarian, the latter earning him the nickname of "Beans". He attended the University of Glasgow and regularly visits Tchai-Ovna Southside. He also likes going to the East End to see Celtic. According to the band's website, Geddes has "a numerology degree". According to the liner notes of Belle & Sebastian's The Life Pursuit, his last name is pronounced "Geddes."
Stuart David is a Scottish musician, songwriter and novelist. He co-founded the band Belle & Sebastian (1996–2000) and then went on to front Looper (1998–present). He is the author of the novels Nalda Said and The Peacock Manifesto, published by I.M.P. Fiction in 1999 and 2001. His third novel, A Peacock's Tale was published by Barcelona Review in 2011.
Sarah Martin (born on 12 February 1974) is the violin player and one of the primary vocalists in the Scottish indie pop band Belle & Sebastian. Besides violin, Martin plays recorder, stylophone, melodica, guitar and flute. She joined the band right before the release of If You're Feeling Sinister (1996). She was born in Blackburn, England.
Mick Cooke (born 15 December 1973) is the trumpet player of the Scottish indie band Belle & Sebastian. Besides trumpet, Cooke plays other brass instruments, including the French horn, and occasionally plays electric guitar and bass live. Since the departure of Stuart David, the role of bass player in Belle & Sebastian is shared between Cooke and David's direct replacement Bobby Kildea who also plays lead guitar.
Richard Colburn (born on 25 July 1970) is the drummer of the Scottish indie band Belle & Sebastian. Before he joined Belle & Sebastian, he used to sell pies on match days outside Celtic Park and study Music Business at Stow College. He was also a semi-professional Snooker player. His nickname is "Rico" and he also DJs.
