3. Adele

Adele sold over 2 million copies of her album in the US alone, plus had the highest-selling album in the UK. A relative unknown before 2011 Adele is set for more success in 2012.

4. Lady Gaga

Dubbed queen of the downloads, social media and radio airplay Lady Gaga has again made it a successful year for herself.

5. Taylor Swift

Dubbed queen of the album sales and awards.

6. Ke$ha

The $ in her name wasn't just for show. Kei$ha raked it in in 2011 with multiple charting singles and a carefree attitude that endeared her to Gen Y!

7. Beyoncé Knowles

Beyonce may slow down to give birth to her first child but 2011 was a crazy year for this highly successful musician and businesswoman. Things might settle down in 2012 for her but she's more than made up for it with a massive 2011.

8. Pink

Pink was proclaimed the queen of tours with her music taking to the road more than any other female musician.

9. Britney Spears

Britney seemed to clean up her act this year with successful singles, a stable relationship and no major controversy. Being focused more on her music in 2011 has paid off for Britney.
