Metallica could self-release their next album, and in an unusual way.
Lars Ulrich says the band will start recording soon, but their record deal with Warner expired with "Death Magnetic" in 2008. It potentially means they could earn a bigger payout with a self-release.
"We're free and clear of our record contract. The world's our oyster. We can basically do whatever we want. And we're going so start figuring that out," he told Spin.
