Dwight Iliff Frye. Thank you for your gift of being such a dynamic stage and screen character actor. In 71, I was 11 when I saw your riveting performance as the tragic Renfield in the Universal horror classic, "Dracula", and the Frankenstein franchise movies, particularly as the villager, Rudi, in "Frankenstein meets the Wolf-man". Since then, I made a mental note to remember you and your name as I saw it appear in the credits of those mesmerizing films over the decades. You were an actor of star quality who never sold his soul, You kept your integrity although you endured the most despicable treatment ever unleashed upon a performer of your caliber via the heartless Hollywood producers who kept you from expanding your craft. I hope that The Most High has granted you the ability to see how your popularity is now a world wide phenomenon. Your being immortalized in song by a ROCK star musician who battled personal demons and won, is a testament to your genius and an inspiration.

Happy 111th Birthday to you, Dwight Frye! Your official film debut was in 1930`s Doorway to Hell as a hoodlum, and your final film appearance was in 1943`s Dangerous Blondes as a hoodlum again. Nevertheless you will always be eternally remembered as the doomed lunatic Renfield in 1931`s Dracula. Hopefully God has answered your prayers of evading further typecasting by performing on the stage in heaven for an audience of grateful angels. Rest in Peace.
