Emilly Araújo and Marcos Härter met at Brazilian reality show Big Brother Brasil 17 on January 24, 2017. They began a relationship on February 18, 2017. They broke up on April 10, 2017, after Marcos left the reality.
Marcos was kicked out of the reality show after an argument with Emilly, in which he physically assaulted her, when he squeezed her arm and pulled her hair. The couple often argued while they were on the show. Delegates, police officers and others stated that Marcos should be expelled because signs of physical aggression were found in Emilly’s body, which was examined by doctors. Netizens who watch the show made it clear that the relationship between Marcos and Emilly was abusive, toxic; they also claimed that he abused her psychologically and physically.
Emilly was the winner of the 17th season of the reality show on April 13, 2017. Emilly and Marcos didn’t talked afterwards even though he attended the reality show’s final, she has made it clear that she won’t be with him. Emilly explained, “I created someone that doesn’t exist. He’s not the person I thought he was.”
Emilly also said her twin sister, Mayla, told her to not talk with Marcos.
