Cynics would often say that the game of love is but a game of luck. In showbiz, relationships come and go. Some end as quickly as they started, but there are also some that withstand the test of time.
Now together for three and a half years, Geoff Eigenmann and Carla Abellana are the epitome of a showbiz power couple. Both successful in their own right, they walk their journey together and motivate each other in every step of the way.
How did the Kapuso couple’s love story start?
In our exclusive interview with Geoff Eigenmann after the Adarna live chat last February 4, 2014, the showbiz royalty recalled, “It started here in GMA. It started with Rosalinda. We got together there. I wouldn’t say it was love at first sight but it was definitely something at an early stage pa lang.”
He added, “Madami kaming pinagdaanan habang ginagawa iyon (Rosalinda). Eventually, we had more shows after that and when she was comfortable na in show business, I asked her and she said yes!”
Unknown to many, Geoff and Carla started out as friends. Eventually, they became closer and developed feelings for each other.
Geoff explained, “A lot of people think na naging kami agad, but it wasn’t the case. She was actually with someone when she started in show business. It was a long relationship talaga. Unfortunately, they broke up. After a year or a year and a half, that’s when we got together.”
How would Geoff describe his relationship with Carla?
He replied, “It’s very honest. Lahat napag-uusapan namin and it’s very mature. The way we both tackle it is different because this is the first relationship I’ve had na showbiz. She ‘s also in the business, so she understands what I’m doing.”
While he admits that their relationship is not perfect, they have both learned from the previous trials that they have experienced as a couple.
“There’s definitely a lot of maturity and definitely none of the jealousy, none of the ‘You can’t do this’ or ‘You can’t do that’. Walang restrictions kasi we’re very open and honest. If something is bothering us, we talk about it and we don’t even fight anymore,” stated Geoff.
How do they usually bond as a couple?
Geoff answered, “We’re very simple, actually. We’re both big fans of movies and we both love eating out. ‘Yun lang, very simple and a quiet night with the family is perfect for us.”
What is their most memorable moment together?
“I can’t really single out one because there have been a lot and I know there will be more coming,” replied Geoff.
He continued, “As of now, I definitely see her as the one I’m gonna be ending up with for the rest of my life. I’m sure there will be more memories that will top what we have now.”
What for him is the best thing about Carla?
“Everything; her being born into this world,” he declared.
Geoff gave this touching message for Carla: “There’s really nothing I haven’t told her yet, but thank you for everything. Thank you for understanding me. Thank you for putting up with me, for always being there and knowing how to motivate me and inspire me the right way and at the right time. I love you, babe!”
