No one has ever come close to or ever will come close to Janis J. I think it is not known really if she was ever really in a real long relationship with anyone.

I have been hearing for sooooooooooo long about a bio-pic. The first time was probably around 20 years ago. Even then, I thought the perfect actress to portray her would be Lily Taylor. Then I heard she was asked to play her. Lily mildly even resembles Janis. Lily has a certain rawness as an actress. She would be the perfect choice. After all these years, they have made no headway. I learned later, Lily was definetly interested, and supposedly they`ve completely ruled her out. She is a very underated actress, and as a huge fan of hers , it is sad she was not given the chance. I read in an interview she was very disapointed she didn`t get the role .Janis would be so hard to play , but I really think she would have nailed it. With a good director, of course. A good bio-pic is so hard to make. I mean, look how that idiot Oliver Stone massacred The Doors !!!

I`ve read that a biopic of her was in the works several years ago but was abandoned because the gal is inimitable. The strong emotion she projected in her songs is almost overwhelming. She was one of a kind.

Janis didn`t "go after" Jim on a tour either, Ashley. They met at a party once and although Janis was into him at first, she then got steamed at him being a drunken pig and left. To quote Paul Rothchild, "I had to say, `Jim, Janis doesn`t think it would be a good idea for you two to get together again.` And they never did. He was crushed."

JANIS DID NOT DATE JIMI! THAT HAS BEEN SPECULATED FOR YEARS, BUT IS NOT TRUE, JANIS LIKED JIMI AS A FRIEND BUT WENT AFTER JIM MORRISON, WHILE THEY WERE ON TOUR.

Ok well I dont care what anybody says about Janis Joplin because you can`t change my mind. She is a beautiful, fun, witty, intelligent, kind, loving, unique person that was loved, will always be loved, and forever truely missed. Janis was the greatest woman ever and her story was so much deeper than her music. I LOVE JANIS JOPLIN!!

Biography

Janis Lyn Joplin (/ˈɑːplɪn/; January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American singer-songwriter who first rose to fame in the late 1960s as the lead singer of the psychedelic/acid rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company, and later as a solo artist with her own backing groups, The Kozmic Blues Band and The Full Tilt Boogie Band. Her first ever large scale public performance was at the Monterey Pop Festival; this led her to becoming very popular and one of the major attractions at the Woodstock festival and the Festival Express train tour. Joplin charted five singles; other popular songs include: "Down on Me"; "Summertime"; "Piece of My Heart"; "Ball 'n' Chain"; "Maybe"; "To Love Somebody"; "Kozmic Blues"; "Work Me, Lord"; "Cry Baby"; "Mercedes Benz"; and her only number one hit, "Me and Bobby McGee".
