Jed Carlson Lowrie (born April 17, 1984) is an American professional baseball shortstop for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB). In addition to the Astros, Lowrie has played in MLB for the Boston Red Sox and Oakland Athletics. Lowrie primarily played as a backup utility infielder for Boston, filling in at shortstop, third base, and second base before settling in as a starting shortstop during his first stint with the Astros. Since then, he has been a starting shortstop for the A's and is currently back with Houston as a starting third baseman.
