You can`t be Canadian if you or your parents are from somewhere else. Canada is a land of settlers (French and British) but people who profit from immigrants coming to this country have begun calling Canada a land of immigrants. Don`t be fooled by the spin.

Well, if what you say is true then no one in Canada, the USA, Australia or New Zealand are really Canadians, Americans, Australians, or New Zealanders except for the indiginous peoples. I guess I should apply for a British passport as my ancestors came here from England 250 years ago. Say that to all the immigrants that have come here in say that last 200 years that they are not Canadian and I think you will have most knock you on your ass. Where you come from is irrelevant unless you are here only for a short time and intend to go back to your homeland. Then I agree you can`t consider yourself Canadian even if you have status. A real Canadian has need for only one passport.

A lot of you have got it all wrong. Her parents are both from Croatia, which by the by, has always been Croatia, not Yugoslavia. And while she was born in Canada, she most certainly is of Croatian heritage. That particular fact is far from irrelevent.

You are all wrong she is Canadian not Serbian. She was born in Canada and raised in Canada went to school in Canada and holds a Canadian passport. Making her Canadian. The fact that her parents were born in the former Yugoslavia is irrelevant.
