Andy Hallet, who played suave demon Lorne on Angel, has died after a five-year battle with heart disease, according to his agent. He was 33.

The actor died of heart failure at Cedars Sinai Medical Center Monday, Halley`s agent and friend Pat Brady told E! Online. Hallet`s father, Dave, was by the actor`s side when he died.

Hallet was from the Cape Cod village of Osterville, Mass., and appeared in more than 70 episodes of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off Angel as Lorne, a friendly demon who hosted and performed karaoke at a demon bar. Angel castmate Charisma Carpenter tells TVGuide.com, "Andy was a beacon of love and laughter."

Also a musician, Hallet contributed two songs — "Lady Marmalade" and "It`s Not Easy Being Green" — to the Angel: Live Fast, Die Never soundtrack in 2005.

Hallet spent his post-Angel career working on his music and touring the country before being admitted to the hospital three or four times over the last few years. A private funeral will be held in Cape Cod, most likely over the weekend.
