Contestants can request a pro, but they’re not guaranteed the match. This season, Denise Richards asked for—and got—Maksim Chmerkovskiy, but that didn’t prevent her from being voted off the show. Then again, picking partners (hello, Charlie Sheen, Richie Sambora, and John Stamos) was never Richards’ strong suit.
