Kelly McGillis Leaves The Closet At 51

 Best known as Tom Cruise`s love interest in director Tony Scott`s 1986 masterpiece "Top Gun," 51 year-old actress Kelly McGillis has finally decided it`s time to leave the closet.Despite it being about 20 years too late to help her career, McGillis revealed today that she has, in fact, always been a lesbian. Announcing her "single" status during an interview with SheWired.com, McGillis went on to reveal what she`s now looking for is "definitely a woman." "[I`m] done with the man thing," McGillis tells SheWired`s Corday, "[I`m] done with the man thing. I did that. I need to move on in life. It`s a part of being true to yourself. That`s been a challenge for me." Twice divorced and the mother of two children, McGillis says coming to terms with her sexuality was "an ongoing process from the time I was probably 12. I had a lot of things happen that convinced me that God was punishing me because I was gay." "Life is a freaking journey," she adds, "it`s about growing and changing, and coming to terms with who and what you are, and loving who and what you are." McGillis will be returning to the spotlight....sort of....from May 22 through June 28th in a production of the Lillian Hellman play "The Little Foxes," at California`s Pasadena Playhouse.
