Senator John Kerry, Senator John McCain, Victoria Kennedy, and more of Senator Ted Kennedy's family and friends opened up about the late American legend Thursday night on CNN's "Larry King Live." Vicki Kennedy spoke to reporters outside the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library on Thursday, and shared her gratitude for the overwhelming support for her family and her late husband. "I just want to thank them so much for coming this evening, and showing the love and support for my husband," she says. "It's a tremendous solace to all of our family. And I just want to let them know how grateful we all are." Ted Kennedy's nephew, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., spoke to "State of The Union's" John King, and explained his uncle's condition shortly before his death. "At about I guess week before he died, he was out on his boat and he was very sick by then and he was losing some of his ability to find words," he remembers. "He was still very cognizant and very you know, he was able to steer his boat and to read and to understand all the conversations, but it was sometimes during some parts of the day, difficult for him to find the words that he was looking for." Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd, who worked with Kennedy, explains to Larry King that despite their business relationship he actually forged a very close friendship with the late senator. "I've lost a great friend," he says. "We just had the best time over the past 30 years. I sat next to him on that health committee of his, subsequently enjoyed him immensely. Working with him, and then of course developed a great personal friendship over the years. I know there will be a lot written about his abilities as a senator and how clever he was as a legislature; I'll leave that for a history books. I just lost a great pal." Ted Kennedy passed away Tuesday night at age 77, after a long battle with brain cancer. Since his death, friends, family, and colleagues have continued to share their memories and offer their support to the late senator and his family.[Read full story on The Insider]
