Country music star Shania Twain gave fans a gift on her 44th birthday. After taking the last several months to collect herself following devastating news that her husband, Robert "Mutt" Lange, was guilty of infidelity, Twain speaks out. In a letter to fans on her website she says, "Traveling has helped a great deal. I consider myself on a journey of discovery and recovery. I don't accept to be held down by the past, nor do I expect too much of the future. This allows me to dream freely with no strings attached." Twain found a travel companion in Frederic Thiebaud, ex-husband of Marie-Anne Thiebaud. Thiebaud is her former friend and secretary and manager of her chateau in Switzerland. An alleged affair between Thiebaud and Lange was uncovered last year. Of Fred, Twain says, "…having gone through the suffering of his family splitting apart at the same time under the same extreme circumstances, he understood me better than anyone." Twain's son Eja and Fred's daughter Johanna joined their parents on several of the trips. In addition to the heartfelt letter, Twain composed a video diary chronicling her world travels.
