From "Anchorman" to "Land of the Lost," Will Ferrell has braved many a genre before, typically operating somewhere within the general realm of comedy. His next movie, "The Other Guys," is no different -- alongside co-star Mark Wahlberg and frequent collaborating director Adam McKay, Ferrell is set to explore the cinematic world of crime. Luckily, Wahlberg and Ferrell aren't alone. Variety reports that the actors will be joined in the film by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson and Steve Coogan, all of whom have their own diversity of genre performances. "The Other Guys" focuses on a New York City police precinct where Jackson and Johnson play an elite cop duo -- two officers who regularly bust the bad guys, drive fast cars and get the girls -- while Ferrell and Wahlberg's considerably less accomplished cops watch from the sidelines. As you might have gathered from the title, the story is all about giving the shlubs a chance to shine. Coogan is set to play the film's villain. "Basically the idea is that you have your star cops of New York City, picture like a Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson-type pair," McKay recently told MTV News of the film's premise. "They're the guys who get all the car chases, all the girls. But this is the story of the guys in the desk next to them, the other guys. It's Wahlberg, Ferrell and a big ensemble cast around them, in an action-comedy kinda crime movie." In addition to Wahlberg, Ferrell and the recently cast trio of Johnson, Jackson and Coogan, "The Other Guys" might feature a potential role for "The Office" star Craig Robinson, thanks to a suggestion from MTV's very own Larry Carroll. "I would love to get Craig Robinson in there; that's actually a really good idea," McKay reacted in response to the suggestion of Robinson. "I forgot about him [during casting], but Craig Robinson's a really good idea. I'm trying to cast this one role now, and I'd kinda spaced on him, but he would be perfect for it!"
