Anthony Minghella, the Oscar-winning director of The English Patient and The Talented Mr. Ripley, has passed away at the age of 54, his agent confirmed today.

Anthony was currently the chairman of The British Film Institute and was one of the world`s most acclaimed and respected filmmakers.
